the Deaf CNY Party

Today (12 Feb 11)
One of our assignment for Sign Language Class is to attend a Deaf event and learn 10 new signs.
Hence, we decided to join the Deaf CNY Party (3pm - 5pm)
We came 1 hour earlier to discuss about the group presentation.

Then at 3pm, we attended the party.
The party started off with Drum performance by the Deaf Beat Club.
Amazing huh! The Deaf can actually play drums! And it was pretty Synchronised!
Later on was Lion Dance followed by Miming by 2 Japanese Mimers!
And the whole party actually ended at 6pm.

Made a few deaf friends at the party,
and learnt quite a lot of new signs.
I'm just so amazed how fast these people can actually move their fingers wei!!!
They did it so fast, we couldn't even register, and had to ask them to slow down :P
And they are all just so friendly :)
Just in case you guys didn't know, Sign Language is not international,
different countries have different ways of signing..
however, it's not really a barrier for these people as expressions are used very often :)

I really think knowing how to sign is super cool! :)
i mean, let's say you want to communicate to someone at a distance from you,
you don't have to shout :P just sign. =D
Learning sign language has kinda like brought me into a whole new world :)
I'm glad i took up this language..
other than.....
the presentation :P hehe.

alright.. back to my hong kong drama :P

Sign Language Class #2 #3

Sign Language Class #2
There are two sessions per day (1 1/2 hours per session)
the first session was some briefing on the deaf community, events, Quiz and...our Group Presentation.
oH my...did I tell you how much I hate presentations. =(
never expected presentations when i signed up for this.
And that's the only reason why I love ACCA...NO assignments and NO presentations. heh.
owh well, just live with it huh...
The second session was rather fun tho as we started to learn the ULTIMATE basics..
That is..to sign Alphabets, Numbers, Time, Day, and Greetings.
And that was the time where i felt that my fingers just can't coordinate fast enough :P
haha.
Sign Language Class #3
Today, Esther was busy, so another teacher, Susie, came to teach us.
We learnt quite a lot today, and i thought it would be hard to remember everything.
Actually not quite, coz just as long as you can understand why those signs are sign as they are,
then it's actually not that bad trying to memorise what you've learnt.
Food, Fruits, Animals, Occupations, Weather, Family Members, Objects, and Colours were what we learnt today..
The class can be quite entertaining when it come to signing animals... :P ha ha...
Sign Language Class is really fun..
the only down side is the presentation.. :/
but i guess, Sign language is not all about using your hands to sign,
it's a lot about facial expressions...as you can't use the tone of your voice to communicate.
Hence, that's what the group presentation is all about,
to test and train your expressions..
Well, and that's the end of SLC #3.

3 Idiots

3 Idiots
(Indian Movie starring Aamir Khan)

This is one movie that i MUST introduce you people to watch!
this is the Second Indian movie i watched all my life and fell in love with.
the First was Slumdog Millionaire.

This movie is about two friends (Farhan and Raju) embarking on a quest for a lost buddy. On this journey, they encountered a long forgotten bet, a wedding they must crash, and a funeral that goes impossibly out of control. As they made their way through the perilous landscape, another journey begins: their inner journey through memory lane and the story of their friend - the irrepressible free-thinker, Rancho, who in his unique way, touched and changed their lives. It's a story of their hostel days that swings between Rancho's romance with the spirited Pia, and his clash with an oppressive mentor, Viru Sahastraduhhe.
And one day, Rancho vanishes...
Who was he? Where did he come from? Why did he leave?
...
(copied from the back of the DVD cover)

This movie was released on the 25th Dec 2009.
Well, as outdated as I am, I only watched it recently, 3rd Feb 2011.
I was first told about this movie in January this year,
to be honest,
once I heard that it was an Indian movie,
I was kinda skeptical and
Songs, Trees, and Mountains start floating in my thoughts.
but, i'm SO GLAD I actually watched it!
Although, yes, it may be filled with songs here and there,
the movie is 2 hours and 45 mins long.
But i've gotta tell you that this movie is just so meaningful!
and don't worry, it'll not be as boring as LOTR :P
coz as meaningful as it is, it's SUPER HILARIOUS!
but before you can get the jokes, you need a subtitle you understand!
coz most of the time, they'll be speaking in Hindi.

This movie speaks a lot about college/Uni life,
How understanding is important, applying the knowledge you've learn,
and not just dead memorizing!
also teaches you that
you should always strive for Excellence and Success will follow you.

Watch! you won't regret!
College/Uni Students would enjoy this show doubly! :)
trust me!
Everyone that i've asked to watch this told me that they would get more friends to watch!
to convince you further that you should watch this movie,
the movie has won 6 Filmfare Awards and 16 IIFA Awards!

CNY Hot Ticket by Hotlink

Alright,
kinda big mouth and put myself into this.
so...yeah...here is my calculation as to why you should get the Hot Ticket :P

There's two different values of hot ticket this CNY
one's RM20 and the other is RM30

RM20 Hot ticket
500 SMS-es and 170mins Talk time
(Valid for 10 days)

Calculation:
if you're a normal Hotlink user,
the value of the hot ticket would be RM111.20
(500sms*RM0.10/sms + 170mins*RM0.36/min)

If you're a Hotlink Youth Club user,
assuming you make SMS-es and phone calls to
Maxis ONLY
The value of the hot ticket would be RM25.40
(500sms*RM0.01/sms + 170mins*RM0.12/min)
Other Operators ONLY
The value of the hot ticket would then be RM55.50
(500sms*Rm0.06/sms + 170mins*RM0.15/min)

Hence, the value would be between RM25.40 and RM55.50

***

RM30 Hot ticket
1000 SMS-es and 280mins Talk time
(Valid for 15 days)

Calculation:
if you're a normal Hotlink user,
the value of the hot ticket would be RM200.80
(1000sms*RM0.10/sms + 280mins*RM0.36/min)

If you're a Hotlink Youth Club user,
assuming you make SMS-es and phone calls to
Maxis ONLY
The value of the hot ticket would be RM43.60
(1000sms*RM0.01/sms + 280mins*RM0.12/min)
Other Operators ONLY
The value of the hot ticket would then be RM102.00
(1000sms*Rm0.06/sms + 280mins*RM0.15/min)

Hence, the value would be between RM43.60 and RM102.00

and all these not adding the RM20 bonus credit which comes with the RM20 HT
and RM30 with the RM30 HT
However, there're some T&C tied to the bonus credit
the important ones are
-only valid for Maxis-Maxis
-can only accumulate to a maximum of RM50
-Expires with the hot ticket

Such an attractive offer, Grab your chance and Grab one now :)

here's the link! :)

Happy CNY folks ;)

Sign Language Class #1

Don't know what went into me,
but I just decided to join the craze with Eunice
to attend Sign Language Class at YMCA
(Basic Level)

the class commenced last saturday (15th Jan)
but I only started and registered yesterday (22nd Jan)

My teacher is Esther
she can't hear and speak.
and you must be wondering....
How on earth would she teach us?
haha..that was once in my mind too.

The first time when she started the lesson,
i practically stared blankly at her.
i seriously couldn't make heads or tail out of what she was trying to say.
i felt so... 'uneducated' all of a sudden when everyone else were nodding their head.
o.O

anyways for last sat and yesterday,
it was only VGA (Visual Gesture Communication)
means, not formal sign language but only the normal way anyone would express themselves without using their mouths.
Part of the activities were trying to act out certain movies (randomly picked) for your classmates to guess what the movie is.
the harder part was the expressions part..
where some expressions looked about the same..
for example.. Shocked and Surprised!
Ashamed and Shy

the class was quite fun when you see people trying to express themselves.
i was at first...shy and embarrassed to get to the front to act out,
but seeing everyone just going in front and just doing it.
ahh.. who cares lah :P

Trust me,
sign language class is a pretty tiring class,
it's a total opposite from a normal lecture in schools,
where you feel tired and bored and then super excited and energized when it ends
but in sign language class,
you really have to pay attention and trains your attention span
which...my attention span so happens to be short. haha..

either the next class or the class after the next,
we would start learning official sign language :)
will blog again then :P

sigh..i think i'm really aging and my skin is starting to give in ady.
no more JUST tap water.
heh.

then i had dinner with my family at Jogoya, Starhill Gallery..
a birthday dinner as usual during birthdays :)

8th January
Adele called me at 12am in the morning to ask if i wanted to surprise Joanne
as she will be landing at 6.30am.
I ter-slept, but made it 'on' time due to some 'delays' and changes
Bumped into joanne's cab when i was trying to move the car, but went unnoticed
left our stuffs on joanne's kitchen table but she didn't realize.
Whoa!
it's either we're (adele and me) good
or Joanne is just THE ultimate Blur! :P
haha..
and yeah. she was super surprised!
wee! success!!
Adele . Me . Joanne

okay, maybe i shouldnt call her blur.
coz i think i'm the one who should be THE MOST ultimate blur case woman on earth.
today was mostly about catching up on my precious sleep till evening where
i was suppose to go out with Eunice for a birthday dinner.
Thought it would be a simple one,
so i dressed quite casually.
Then i was brought to the Gardens, Midvalley.
hints were dropping everywhere,
but guess what, i NEVER suspected ANYTHING at all!
like seriously!
then she brought me to Hokkaido Sushi (Kita No Zen)
and there......
i was so SHOCKED to see EVERYONE THERE!!
from church to primary school to secondary school to college to uni
o.O
*so wanna run away and hide*

i don't do good expressing my feelings in my blog.
i tend to write weirdly :P
